Lomi Lomi is used to refer to any traditional Hawaiian massage. It is an ancient Hawaiian technique. Ancient Hawaiian massage acknowledges and honors the sacredness of all Life. “Lomi Lomi is a gentle, graceful, rhythmic, light or deep massage to parts of the external body’s pressure points, nerve centers, muscle tissues and internal organs. It removes toxic waste, tension, pain and fatigue, and replaces them with positive energy, increases circulation and improves muscle tone.” (Jimmy Lewis, LMT in Bowman, 1996, p.33). Each human being is seen as precious, and the bodywork honors the Whole. The true definition of Lomi is “reconnecting with spirit”. There are multiple types of Lomi Lomi. Traditionally the art was passed down only through family blood lines, making Lomi as unique and varied as individual families are. Only recently has any of this precious wisdom been shared outside family lines. Lomi Lomi focuses on the connection between the bones and the spirit. Lomi consists of long, continuous strokes. Lomi is a yummy, buttery massage that uses elbows and forearms to dance along the body. Lomi Lomi is truly about sharing Aloha (Love). Lomi will leave you feeling luxurious, with your soul soaring.
